On 07/12/2010 Det/Sgt K. Shuping was notified by Brian Rogers of Davie County Dept Of Social Services of a possible case of indecent liberties with a six year old boy. Det. Shuping and Mr. Rogers made contact with the victim's guardian who is his biological grandmother and the victim's father. Mr. Rogers informed them that the victim's mother, of Hickory, had taken him to see Catawba Department of Social Services because he had shown signs of inappropriate behavior. The victim reported to Catawba DSS that his uncle, the suspect Quinton Pendry, had put his mouth to the victim's private parts and the suspect had put his privates in the victim's mouth. Det. Shuping was able to briefly speak with the suspect but due to extreme anger at the time was unable to get a statement, and Pendry was requested to come to Det. Shupings office that afternoon to schedule a polygraph. Pendry failed to comply with Det. Shuping's request.

On 07/13/2010 a forensic interview was performed on the victim at Catawba DSS and a copy was provided for Det. Shuping on 07/14/2010. The victim reported what would happen when Pendry was the only one home when he would get off the bus. The victim also reported threats if he was non-compliant and assaults by Pendry. On 07/16/10 Warrants were obtained for Charles Quinton Pendry.

Charles Quinton Pendry was apprehended in Florida on 08/06/2010. He was returned to Davie County on 08/25/2010 and is currently confined in the Davie County Detention Center awaiting court appearance.
