On Friday, July 23, 2010, James Helmstetler reported his 2010 Chevrolet Malibu stolen from his residence at 843 Gladstone Rd Mocksville. Later in the day James Curtis Blevins was arrested in Welch, West Virginia while in possession of the stolen vehicle. The vehicle had been involved in an accident and had sustained damage throughout. Blevins was charged with possession of stolen vehicle and driving while impaired. Blevins was also found to be in possession of an ATM card belonging to resident of Gladstone Road. Det/Sgt Scot Kimel made contact with the owner of the ATM card who was unaware of the card being taken from her vehicle. After further investigation it was determined that Blevins had broken into two other vehicles on Gladstone Road prior to stealing the Malibu. Det/Sgt Kimel obtained warrants for larceny of a motor vehicle, two counts of autobreaking and one count of misdemeanor larceny. Blevins is currently in custody in West Virginia.
